The Big Cheese

Yesterday Chloe climbed into this bin to play. She played car for about 30 seconds before she decided she wanted to read.

She was so cute, crammed into this little bin with her books that I had to take a picture. You can tell she wasn't prepared for the first shot.

But she certainly turned on the charm for the next one!

I absolutely love that she knows how to cheese smile for the camera!

Finished Project

I think pretty much everyone I talk to on at least a semi-regular basis knows that I've been working on a quilt for my sister as a wedding present. I have finally finished it, only five months late!

For pictures, see here.

Good Books

Today the girls both wanted to read Superhero ABCs, so I suggested they sit and read it together.

Aren't these sweet sister moments the best?

Our Little Movie Star

All dressed up and packing her purse for a night out on the town.

Signing her autograph for one of her fans.

For her latest movie role, she played an artist who got her start creating bathtub art.

This little girl just makes us laugh!

There once was a little girl...

Who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead.

When she was good
She was very, very good.

And when she was bad
She was horrid.

Enough said.

Outdoor Fun

Today was the most beautiful day - fifty degrees and sunny. Caleb was not feeling well so we sent Rob and the girls off to church and stayed home so he wouldn't share his germs with anyone else. I convinced him to get dressed and go outside for a while, figuring some fresh air would do both of us some good. He wore a jacket since he was sick, but I was comfortable in just a sweatshirt and jeans. Love it!

We brought out the recycling and Caleb realized that some of the items in the recycling bin would make great snow tools.

He wasn't sure about me taking his picture, though.

Caleb filled all of these cans with snow and was preparing to build a snow castle.

He started stacking them in the driveway until I pointed out that Daddy would probably run them over with the van when they all got back from church, not realizing that it was something special Caleb had made.

Then he decided he'd be better off making it off in front of the house where the rest of the snow is.

Once he was done, he thought it would be great fun to pitch snowballs at his mother. I think this one was taken when I told him it was time to go back inside.

This warm weather was a nice reprieve from all the cold and snow we've had this winter. It is making all of us yearn for spring.

"Arrgh!" Caleb exclaimed while we were outside. "There are still five more weeks of winter."

Yes, but there are only five more weeks of winter!

Camille's Favorite Things

Tonight we had our friend Melanee over for dinner. I made black bean soup and an had little Mexican nacho bar so the kids could fix what they wanted. I took the time to cut up some black olives because I knew the kids liked them.

As she was eating some olives, Camille informed us that "Olives are my favorite black thing."

After we chuckled for a minute, Melanee asked Camille what some of her other favorites are. The conversation went a little something like this:

M: What is your favorite red thing?
C: Tomatoes! I love tomatoes! My brother doesn't like tomatoes.
M: What is your favorite yellow thing?
C: Hmmm...let me think about it for a minute. I know! Chips! (Tortilla chips were sitting in front of her on the table.)

I thought the conversation was just about over when Camille proclaimed, "Know what my favorite brown thing is?"
M: What is your favorite brown thing?
C: My MOM! And my dad!

We laughed and laughed. I never would have categorized myself as such, but she explained later as she put on her pajamas - "Your skin is kind of tan brown and your hair is brown."

Makes sense to me now, but it was so funny then!

Caleb's letter to the president

I am not one to discuss anything remotely political if I can help it, but I thought this paper Caleb came home with yesterday was definitely worth sharing.

I am keeping all of his spelling as he wrote it. I'm sure you can appreciate the joy of a six year old's writing.

Dear Presint Obama,
good luck.
macks good choys's.
no fiting.
mack peise.
dont giv up.
kep the world clenr.

Love,
Caleb

Good advice if I ever heard it. How did my kid get to be so smart?

Crazy in Jammies

My kids were a mess last night. Caleb keeps squeezing into these pajamas that are WAY too small - he keeps sneaking them back in his drawer before I can toss them. Camille ended up in Chloe's nightgown (it wandered to her side of the drawer and because of that she was convinced it was hers, despite the fact it barely covered her bottom). Chloe spent most of the evening running around in this little t-shirt until I chased her down and wrestled her into some real pajamas.

Enjoy the craziness!
