We've had a busy week, trying to get into a groove. Chloe is doing well - eating, sleeping, pooping, sleeping, sleeping, sleeping, sleeping. I had forgotten how much newborns sleep. And how cuddly they are. It's been nice to have a cuddly little baby around the house. Caleb and Camille are getting used to having a little sister. They are very sweet - wanting to kiss and hug and hold her. They like to pick out clothes for her to wear. Camille has been showing Baby Chloe how she goes on the potty. (We're getting very close to potty trained...Camille even went potty on the bathroom toilet today ALL BY HERSELF!)

Mom and I had a fun morning. We took Chloe on her first trip to Target. She was very good - sleeping the entire time we were gone. I hope she continues to be as easy going!

Here's Mommy and Chloe:

The Graduate

Here he is, Mr. Preschool Graduate. These pictures were taken during his graduation ceremony last night.

Reciting his scripture verse (Love each other as I have loved you. John 15:12). He went to a presbyterian preschool, so this was a part of their curriculum.

Receiving his diploma from Mrs. Angie.

The Chloe update, preschool graduation and the dancing queen

Chloe had her first doctor appointment this morning. The doctor said she looks healthy and beautiful. However, she has lost quite a bit of weight (she weighed 7 lbs., 13 oz, down from her birth weight of 8 lbs., 11 oz.) so they want to see her back on Monday for a weight check. The doctor didn't seem too concerned, saying often babies who spend time in the NICU show increased metabolic rates and lose more weight, but he was confident she would gain it back quickly.

And why shouldn't she? All she has done today is eat and sleep! Rob and I left her and Camille with my mom while we went to Caleb's preschool graduation and she slept the whole time. Actually, she was asleep before we left and was still sleeping when we got home. She ate and then she went back to sleep. I'm hoping she sleeps this well tonight so I can get some sleep!

How many siblings does it take to hold Baby Chloe?

Chloe's babysitter - Camille was thrilled to help Baby Chloe. She found the elephant toy for her and then kept pressing the button so it would sing to her.

Chloe has been content the last couple of days to sit and watch what everyone else is doing. Here she is in her car seat.

Here she is just hanging out. Her outfit is a newborn size one - one I was afraid she'd be too big to wear. Look how big it is on her!

Here's Caleb singing at the graduation program. I'm waiting for the official graduation pictures (they had a photographer take them so parents wouldn't have to scramble to get them), and I'll post those when they come to us.

Here's a cute one of Caleb this week at the hospital playground.

Camille has been very interested in ballet these days, thanks to the Angelina Ballerina and Barbie books we found at the library this last trip. Here she is as a little ballerina.

Welcome Baby Chloe!

Our little baby has finally arrived. Chloe Alyssa was born at 3:17 on May 19, making her the third generation of women in our family born on that day! She spent a couple of days in the NICU because of some intial breathing troubles, but has since bounced back and become the sweetest baby. She eats and sleeps and is content just to look around (mostly) when she's awake.

Here are some initial photos. Perhaps tomorrow will be the day we take some really good ones!

Nursery in Progress

So we've been working hard getting the room ready for the baby. My friend Sarah came over yesterday and helped me sew the crib skirt and I was up late last night sewing the curtains. For someone who doesn't measure, cut or sew straight, I was quite pleased to see how the curtains came out. I also made the crib bumper (but my friend Marie gets credit for the beautiful baby quilt on the side of the crib). Only a few projects left and this room will be ready for baby!

A Busy Morning

We dropped Caleb off at preschool this morning and came home to have a busy morning. Camille colored in her Strawberry Shortcake coloring book and played with her baby dolls. Finally she decided to be a baby herself. She curled up on the floor and pretended to sleep. Before I know, her sleep was real! My child who doesn't like to sleep put herself down for a nap! Here's proof!

Let's Go Fly a Kite

Yesterday afternoon was SO windy that Rob and Caleb decided to take a kite over to the field across the street and fly it. They had a fun time (despite getting the kite caught in a tree once). Here are some pictures of the fun!

Another hot one!

So I have finally come to grips with the fact that summer has returned to the Carolinas. The good news is that our garden is growing! Our cucumbers and squash are now little sprouts and our tomato plants are almost double the size they were last week!

The kids spent the afternoon cooling off in the little pool and eating popsicles.

I spent as much time in the shade, trying to stay cool, as possible! Can you blame me? I figure with just a couple of weeks left to go, I have the right to be uncomfortable!

This is what I really think of the heat!

It was a nice day, despite the heat. Rob and I took Camille strawberry picking this morning while Caleb was in preschool. (Don't feel bad for him...he has a preschool field trip to the strawberry patch coming up soon!) I finished sewing the crib bumper for the new baby. We watched a movie. Hopefully tomorrow will be as nice a day for us!
